Support NZLO
Help build the future of linguistics education in New Zealand
The New Zealand Linguistics Olympiad (NZLO), organised by Pinnacle Education Trust, introduces students to the scientific study of language through logic, analysis and problem solving.
Our ambition extends beyond an annual competition. We aim to build a sustainable educational programme that helps students discover linguistics, develop their abilities and explore further academic opportunities.
We welcome support from universities, schools, businesses, foundations, families and the wider community.
What Your Support Makes Possible
Educational Development
Support learning resources, school outreach and educational activities that connect linguistics with mathematics, computing and other disciplines.
Student Accessibility
Help students from different financial backgrounds participate fairly. The School Round is free for eligible students, while financial support can help reduce barriers to participation in later-stage activities.
Academic Excellence
Support academic problem-setting, review, assessment, training and talent development, helping NZLO maintain a fair and academically credible programme.
International Opportunities
Help lay the foundations for future regional and international academic engagement. Any future participation remains subject to formal recognition, relevant eligibility requirements and separately published selection criteria.
Community Support
Bring together people and organisations who can contribute expertise, venues, resources, volunteer time or financial support to linguistics education in New Zealand.
Ways to Support NZLO
Funding
Grants and institutional funding can support educational projects, competition delivery, outreach, learning resources and student fee assistance. Please contact us to discuss your organisation’s priorities and possible areas of support.
Sponsorship
Businesses and organisations can discuss sponsorship arrangements that support NZLO’s educational activities. Any recognition or other benefits will be agreed separately.
Voluntary Donations
Individuals and organisations may make voluntary donations towards NZLO’s not-for-profit educational purposes. Donations are never a condition of participation.
Practical and Academic Support
Support can also take the form of academic expertise, problem-setting and review, venue provision, school connections, learning materials or volunteer assistance.
Our Commitment
Support will be applied to NZLO’s not-for-profit educational purposes and administered consistently with Pinnacle Education Trust’s charitable purposes and applicable financial-management requirements.
Funding, sponsorship and donations cannot influence eligibility, marking, rankings, awards, training or future team selection. Participation does not depend on purchasing commercial coaching or other paid educational services.
Participation fees are not voluntary donations. Funding, sponsorship and donations are classified according to their actual nature. Any eligibility for donation tax credits or tax deductions depends on applicable law and the circumstances of the contribution.
Need Financial Assistance?
The School Round is free for eligible students. Fees may apply to the National Final, some training camps and other later-stage activities.
Students and parents or legal guardians experiencing financial hardship may contact info@nzlo.org confidentially to request a fee waiver or subsidy. Requests are assessed in light of need and available resources. Information provided will be used only for necessary assessment and administration.
